The Penicuik Arts Festival 2007 follows the success of last year’s Penicuik Arts Trail. It actively co-ordinates the arts events by Penicuik Community Development Trust, Penicuik Community Arts Association, other local organisations and individual artists and performers to coincide with Penicuik’s annual street fair and the nearby Edinburgh and Peebles festivals. We’ve put together a mixed program of exhibitions and events for all ages.  Contact 01968 672 706 or 677 854.  We’re grateful to Midlothian Council for support in putting Penicuik Arts Festival into the Edinburgh Festival Fringe programme.  And thanks to the more-than-ample generosity of local businesses and individuals, the printing of the Penicuik Arts Festival programme has now been paid for.

CRAFT SHOP

Over 20 talented craft workers and artists have a co-operative craft shop in Penicuik Arts Centre, open throughout the Festival.

10am-4pm daily during the Festival, and when the Centre is hosting a festival event. Have a snack in the Gallery cafe downstairs.

GALLERY CAFÉ

The Gallery Cafe is the heart of the Arts Centre at 4 West Street.  On Monday to Saturday from 10 till 4, and at festival time on Sundays, it’s run by a handful of our members and known for friendly atmosphere and tasty food.  Everything you see is home made: -soups, organic bread, cakes and biscuits. Beyond the cafe is the sheltered sun garden for eating out on warmer days.  With a good cup of coffee, you can enjoy the gallery all around you. Two exhibitions are featured here during the Festival.  Tomoko Nagatfuka shows abstract images from an old kimono until 1st September. And upstairs throughout the Festival is Penicuik’s Annual Exhibition.

UPSTAIRS EVENTS

This main upstairs gallery is a great intimate space for exhibitions and events.  For years local and international performers have enjoyed the close-up rapport with the audience here.  They keep coming back for more!
