The Penicuik Arts Festival 2008 follows the success of the  first festival last year and the Penicuik Arts Trail started two years ago.  It brings together a fortnight of arts events organised by the volunteers of two local arts charities, Penicuik Community Development Trust and Penicuik Community Arts Association, plus a handful of individual artists and performers and other local organisations, with the help of space and support from local shops and restaurants. It’s timed to chime with the nearby Edinburgh and Peebles festivals.  You’ll find a mixed program of exhibitions and workshops and events for all ages.  Contact 01968 672 706 or 677 854.  We’re grateful to Midlothian Council for helping to pay for our entry in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe programme, and to our supporters in the community for subscribing the 6,000 programme leaflets printed this year.  Although the Penicuik Arts Festival is a concentrated celebration it’s part of a continuous flow of exhibitions, events and films arranged by community volunteers right through the year - look back and forwards here at some of them.
